    if it's around the 2 billion mark as it seems to be from people whove lost their cash after going past 2 bil, it should be the 32-bit signed integer limit (same one as the runescape one) which is 2,147,483,647 pounds

    Well, it could be due to an Integer Overflow where a numerical value (In this case your on hand money) wraps around to a lower number due to not having a valid value to increase to. My guess as to the maximum amount you can carry would be 4,294,967,295 Pounds, if it was stored in an 8-bit register.
