RDM - random deathmatch - killing someone without a valid RP reason.
So if a cop starts shooting at prisoners who escaped the jail cells, who are attacking the cop - thats a valid RP reason to kill the prisoner
But if a cop is shooting and killing prisoners who are in cells, who arent doing anything, then where is the valid RP reason? What reason does the cop have other than to just kill them?
The point is that its RDM as long as there isnt any RP reason behind it.
PS i dont know the specifics of what happened or what you are referring to but this is just something that popped into my mind reading through your post.
also this forum page is for guides, there are other places for discussions and things alike

If youre new to GMod DarkRP, This guide might Be for you!
(be advised this guide is not flawless, let me know if you think something about this guide is wrong or incorrect.)
The important rules of this and most DarkRP servers are:
Random Death Match (RDM): do not kill anyone unless in self defense or getting raided
NLR (New life rule): when you die, you do not remember anything when you respawn and are not allowed to be in the radius of your death for 3 minutes
Props: do not propblock entrances, entities such as printers or miners.
Doors
There are multiple houses with multiple doors which you can own. By (obviously) pressing f2 on an unowned door allows you to buy it, Pressing f2 on an owned door of yours allows you to add a co-owner, or sell it.
F4 Menus
By Pressing F4 (fn and f4 at the same time for laptop users), You can access most things youll need while playing DarkRP (using commands in chat is possible, but i personally prefer using the f4 menus.)
Jobs Menu
The jobs menu allows you to become:
The Good: Police, S.W.A.T, Mayor (mayor requires going to the mayors secretary NPC and costs 5k to be a candidate), etc.
The Bad: Gangster, Mob Boss, Scum Bag, Thief, Stealth raider, Terrorist, Hitman, etc.
Citizens: Citizen, Hobo, Gun Dealer, Medic, Crypto Miner, Store Owner, etc.
Entities Menu
The entities menu can be considered a store, as you can buy ammo, a printer, a terminal, terminal camera, and more.
Printer: Basically, a money printer, Can be stolen and exploded. A printer makes 6000 every 5 minutes without additions.
Charge: can be used to recharge the printer when it runs out of power.
CPU: makes a printer a minute faster. (can only be used once)
Terminal and Terminal Camera: can be used as a security system for bases, terminals can only have one camera.
Metal Detector: can detect guns
Home Menu
The home menu has roleplay options such as:
Drop money: drop an amount of money (Also optionally: !dropmoney)
Give Money: give an amount of money to a player you're looking at (Also optionally: !givemoney)
Change Job Title: changes your job title to a nickname, does not change job
Request license: requests a license to a police, police chief or mayor when you're looking at them (Also optionally: !requestlicense)
Change Name: changes RP name
Sell All Doors: sells all doors you've bought
Fading doors and keypads
Fading doors and keypads are useful for bases as they take long to break into, even with keypad crackers.
You can make fading doors and keypads with the toolgun. When in the fading door settings, i recommend binding it to a key you dont use often, such as the right side of the keyboard (p, o, l, k, i, etc.), Apply the fading door to a prop, optionally a tall fence or door like prop.
When in the keypad settings, make sure the "ACCESS GRANTED" bind to the same key as your fading door bind. make sure the keypad has a code that cant be quickly guessed. place the keypad on eye level close to the fading door.
Instead of typing in the keypad code everytime you need to go through a fading door, you can always press the ID button.
Thanks for reading! of course, let me know what you think i should add, change, or remove.
