Popular Post Greywind
Introduction: In my opinion, a good staff application consists of the right things being said, and in a good amount of detail. You do not by any means need to write a massive 2,000 word application to cover all of the most important points, It's just a matter of wording them correctly. To begin: First off you should make sure that you click on the application form to make certain that you follow the template provided to ensure it is in the write format. You will first fill out the information section which will ask for your in game name (For example mine would be "Greywind", your steam (For example mine is STEAM_0:1:597651748, you can copy it off the profile interaction menu in game), your time zone (Mine is GMT) and your current rank (I would recommend both your in game and forum rank, My forum rank is "Collaborator and my in game rank is "vip" What qualities as a staff member should you have?: For this section I believe that the best way to go about filling out this section is to do the following. Step 1: Name the quality step 2: Explain in detail what it means step 3: Explain why it is important step 4: What are the benefits For example: Quote Knowledge: A member of staff should have a healthy wealth of knowledge for not only the rules but also the server and how it operates as a whole. The reason for a staff member needing knowledge in both these fields is that they must be able to both follow and enforce the rules and be able to inform players on anything they require in regards to the rules or the general way in which the server operates. Suggestions for qualities you should mention: Knowledge: Experience Emotional Intelligence Communication Activity Positivity Teamwork Dedication Efficiency All of these are good points to explain in detail given they're all things a staff should show when moderating a Dark RP server. Why do you deserve a promotion / Extension of your rank?: To fill out this section I believe the applicant should do the following. Explain why you want to apply and explain why you deserve the promotion using the following pointers. Show what qualities listed in your "What qualities as a staff member should you have?" section Describe personal traits you posses which will be a benefit to the staff team Explain personal traits you posses which will benefit the community Conclude (Bare in mind you can use the same template as shown above for the first section to further your points) Additional information and a conclusion: You should also consider the following You should tell the truth because staff will support you more if they can relate to you and can confirm what you're saying and believe you. You should not over do your application, keep it to the point and make it informative. Try not to repeat yourself, keep it fresh and interesting. (EXTREMELY IMPORTANT): Build a reputation for yourself, given yourself a good name and make yourself known amongst the staff. Being an active member of the community and someone people like will massively aid your application given that +SUPPORT from staff WILL effect the outcome (Also -SUPPORT will be considered as very bad for applications so try to avoid getting any if possible) This means getting to know the community and standing out as someone who is know for being kind, helpful and an upstanding member with good intentions and looking to do good by the people. To conclude, applications are not so hard, and if you keep in mind what you're writing and you follow these pointers, you will do well and most likely get accepted. Bellow I am going to give you an example of a good application I have written which you can use as a reference for your own application. Practice application for reference: Quote Username: Greywind Steam ID: STEAM_0:1:597651748 Time Zone: GMT Current rank: Collaborator (7/14) / VIP What qualities as a staff member should you have? A staff member should possess a number of qualities which constitute one being able to fill the role as a moderator. Here is a list of all of the qualities a staff member should possess. Knowledge: A member of staff should have a healthy wealth of knowledge for not only the rules but also the server and how it operates as a whole. The reason for a staff member needing knowledge in both these fields is that they must be able to both follow and enforce the rules and be able to inform players on anything they require in regards to the rules or the general way in which the server operates. Experience: A member of staff should have a certain general experience as provided by a mentor and through observational learning to be able to operate day to day and fill their role as a member of staff ensuring that they can enforce the rules to a good standard and provide a quality service that leaves a good impression on those who interact with members of staff during or outside of staff sits. Emotional Intelligence: A member of staff should be able to present themselves in an appropriate manner and must not allow their personal views and emotions to cloud their judgement. This is important given that a member of staff should be patient and be able to keep calm to ensure that the right choices are made so that justice is served and those who require staff members assistance get the help they require. Uphold a high level of professionalism. Communication: A member of staff should be able to communicate with both their fellow staff mates but also members of the server that will come in contact with members of staff given you need to be able to communicate information in an effective manner to ensure that rules are enforced and help can be provided to people. With this one would also require the ability to listen to people and hear their sides on things to be able to understand the scenario and take the right actions communicating their actions. Activity: A member of staff should show a high level of activity both in game and on the forums as to show one's presence to ensure if required, staff are there to assist, It is also highly important given a staff member should always be there to come on duty if reports are getting backed up and active staff members need additional assistance. This will ensure that all reports are answered and the server is kept in order to ensure the best player experience for guests. This also includes availability, which is important for the reasons above. Positivity: I staff member should present a level of positivity towards their job as enforcers and make people feel welcome and accepted ensuring they feel they are able to contact staff to get the help they required. It is also important as it gives a good impression and allows for people to feel they’re being heard. It is also an important value to have given it uplifts fellow staff mates and keeps the team on task. A part from this is also being respectful and honest. Teamwork: A member of staff should be able to work with people both in and out of the staff team and be able to work together to solve problems and answer the questions that may be presented in or out of sits. This goes in hand with forum communication and also making ban requests to admins and such. The staff team is a unit that work best when together and so this element is vital given all of the staff should be able to understand one another and take the right steps to successfully moderate the server as a team. Dedication: A member of staff must show a high level of dedication to their role and to the progression of Cloud Gaming as a server and a community. What this means is that they should always be striving for positive change and always be stepping forward to do good by the people that reside within the community. This goes in hand with having a positive mindset and always giving a good impression. As a staff member you represent the server and server as a whole and that takes time dedication. Efficiency: A member of staff should show a high level of efficiency to ensure reports are up to date and the needs of server members are met to ensure that the server is in order and that the workload of your fellow staff mates is balanced. It is also important that you work smart to ensure errors are minimised to ensure the right choices are being made so that the player experience is not hindered and those who cause problems are not left unpunished. To conclude: All of these qualities are what a staff member must show to operate in an appropriate manner, in order to best serve CG and ensure the server is moderated to an acceptable standard. Why do you deserve a promotion / extension of your rank? I personally believe that everyone who has a genuine passion and interest for the betterment of cloud gaming deserves a chance to apply and be accepted on the staff team. First off I have 1,500 + hours on Garry's Mod. This means that I have a large pool of experience in the game and will be able to help new players and use my abilities to better moderate the server. I also have prior experience in staffing other Dark Rp servers (Admin + on two accounts). This means that I have experience in staff and will be able to perform my duties to a good standard and understand what is expected of me as a staff member. I also have 260 hours on cloud gaming which means that I have a deep understanding of the rules that all must follow while playing on CG and with this I will be able to enforce those rules to a quality standard. I believe that I will be a good staff member given I posses the following qualities which are important in operating as a moderator: Activity: At the current moment I am extremely active, dedicating all of my hours on gmod. What this level of activity means, is I am able to provide the service of a staff member throughout the entire duration of the most popular hours, where numbers are at their highest and the need of an moderator would be at its greatest, ensuring punishments are swift and any obstruction via props are dealt with as soon as possible so that the player of cloud gaming can get on with their day and enjoy themselves. Dedication: As said above I am extremely dedicated, giving all of my time on gmod to being active. I have a great deal of love for my role as a fellow member of cloud gaming both in game and on the forums and I really do hope to become the tool that is required to send cloud gaming into the best direction they can possibly go in. If I am needed I will be able to give my hand and I will have the ability to put in my all to safeguarding the server. Knowledge: I would like to say that I possess a high level of knowledge for both the rules and the way in which cloud gaming operates and I think that is very important for someone in a staff position since they should be a helping hand to fellow members and moderators to ensure that questions are answered and the right choices are being made. Experience: I would also like to say that I possess a good amount of experience both in the admin position on others servers in the past and in understanding the rules of cloud gaming, having partaken in many sits in the past. What this means is that I have the experience to be able to fill the job of a moderator well and I will be able to grow into the moderator cloud gaming needs, ensuring all requirements for staff assistance is met with as little delay as possible, to ensure a quality player experience. To Conclude: I believe that I have earnt the right to apply for a moderator position and I believe I truly deserve it. I will leave it at this for now, I hope this helps you to understand my mindset and give insight to why I am applying for the role. OoO
My suggestion for success. This is an application about you. Everyone having the same points and eventually the same application leads nowhere. Make sure you are known by the players and staff, active, not have any recent punishments. If the staff know you and how valuable you would be you don't need a perfect application, similarly, if you are mediocre, a perfect application won't save you. My final tip is to not ask for attention, no asking staff to reply, no asking for support, nothing. PenguinJoy0, Kringo, Greywind and 1 other 2 2 Link to comment
